Ryanair CEO says seatbelts 'won't save you' during a crash
11/9/2012Give Michael O'Leary this — he’s honest. The CEO of budget airline Ryanair has some unseattling news for those fliers who like, well, seats. O'Leary railed against seatbelts on planes, saying "If there ever was a crash on an aircraft, God forbid, a seatbelt won't save you" and that "seatbelts don't matter." Comforting. He also wants to remove the back 10 rows of seats from planes to create a "standing room only" cabin for students and budget travelers, which he would charge one pound for. As for landing? The standing passengers can "hang on to the handle" and would be "fine." [Source]
