Sam Adams has a $190 beer that comes in a decanter
11/6/2012If your beer of choice is PBR or High Life, Sam Adams' new Utopias beer might not be for you — or your price range. The brewer’s stiff (and stiffly priced) libation retails for $190 a bottle, is sold in a fancy decanter that resembles a fancy brandy — and tastes like one too. The limited-edition brew is released in small batches every two years. It’s a non-carbonated blend of several beers and aged in wood barrels with 29 percent alcohol content. Sam Adams founder Jim Koch likes to showcase the brew alongside fancy Port and Cognac in blind taste tests, and the brew often holds its own. Bottoms up! [Source]
