Is a woman with cropped hair less feminine than one with those long Hollywood tresses? That's one of the questions under investigation at The Beauty Project, an artistic endeavor spearheaded by photographer Alex Herbig and Sam Hoshin. When Hoshin decided to cut off her gorgeous, curly locks, she reached out to Herbig — and the pair, both 20-year-old Seattleites, documented the entire shearing session. "I think that a woman's hair being equivalent to femininity has been steeped in most world cultures for hundreds of years," says Hoshin, who says she's been shocked by the "astounding" response to the project.
