Gay couples in Washington rush to get marriage licenses

12/6/2012

Looks like this could be a good time to buy shares in Champagne. With same-sex marriage now legal in the state of Washington, couples wasted no time in applying for marriage licenses. In King County alone, the most populous county in the state, the Recorder's Office broke its own one-day record for issuing licenses. In the first three and a half hours of Thursday, more than 300 couples filed for a license. However, eager couples won't be able to tie the knot until at least Sunday as the state requires a three-day waiting period. Just enough time for guests to purchase some legal pot to present as a wedding gift. [Source]
