Jury finds Samsung infringed on Apple patents
8/24/2012A jury found that Samsung infringed on several of Apple’s patents in a verdict just announced in federal court in San Jose, Calif. The nine-member jury took three days to reach a decision, finding that Samsung had violated Apple patents for several of its devices and technologies and awarding more than $1 billion in damages. The trial began in April 2011 when Apple sued Samsung, alleging the South Korea-based company infringed on four design and three software patents related to the iPhone and iPad. Apple sought between $2.5 billion and $2.75 billion in damages. Samsung countersued, claiming Apple violated five of its own patents and asked for $422 million. [Source]
