Say hi (and awww) to the San Diego Zoo's new baby panda

Well, hello, world! The San Diego Zoo would like all of us to meet one of its newest residents, a 6-month-old giant panda cub named Xiao Liwu. The cub, whose name means "Little Gift" in Chinese, spent his first day in front of the public rolling around in his enclosure, frolicking to his heart's content and pulling off other assorted moves directly out of his handbook, "Get the Awww: a Strategic Guide to Cuteness." OK, that's not really a book, but Xiao looks like a pro who could teach other animals a thing or two if they needed some pointers. See the photos from his big day in the gallery above.
