Internet mob blames Mass Effect video game for Sandy Hook shooting

After a tragedy like what happened at Sandy Hook, people want to grieve ... and to find a scapegoat. And when news sources erroneously reported that the shooter was Ryan Lanza (brother of actual gunman Adam Lanza), the Internet found a scapegoat on his Facebook page: the video game Mass Effect, which Lanza had "liked." Violent video games have taken heat for past shootings, and though Mass Effect is far from the bloodiest of games, that didn't stop the online mob from flooding the game's Facebook page and declaring the developers "child killers." Of course, the real shooter may have had nothing to do with the game, but since when has the truth stopped a good witch hunt? [Source]
