Sandy Hook kids get Super Bowl off to emotional start
2/3/2013The number of singers was symbolic: 26 members of the Sandy Hook Elementary School choir accompanied Grammy-winning Jennifer Hudson on "America the Beautiful" before Sunday's Super Bowl, representing the number of students and adults killed in the horrific shooting Dec. 14. The innocent voices made for a gripping, even heart-breaking rendition of the song, and the NFL connection was fitting. Many players, coaches and league officials have reached out to the Newtown community in the wake of the tragedy, and the NFL eagerly accepted the opportunity to host the students in New Orleans.
