Teacher wounded while preventing school shooter from entering room

12/14/2012

As accounts of what happened inside the walls of Sandy Hook Elementary during Friday's horrific shooting are being reported, tales of heroism are also emerging. One involves a teacher who pressed her body against a door that didn't have a lock on it in order to keep alleged shooter Adam Lanza from entering a room. School therapist Diane Day recounted how she was in a room with the principal, the school psychologist and other staffers when the shooting started. The principal and psychologist left the room to investigate, but an unnamed teacher pressed her body against the unlocked door to keep it closed. She was shot in the leg and arm through the door, but helped to save her colleagues. The principal and psychologist were reportedly among those killed. [Source]
