Judge turns Scrooge on nativity scenes in California city

A federal judge ruled today that the city of Santa Monica did not have to allow private displays at a public park, including nativity scenes. It was the latest salvo in a contentious battle between atheists and churches, which resulted in the city ending a six-decade-long tradition of allowing nativity scenes at Palisades Park. U.S. District Court Judge Audrey Collins ruled that the city did not have reopen spaces to private groups, which a group of churches had sought. [Source]
