A federal judge ruled today that the city of Santa Monica did not have to allow private displays at a public park, including nativity scenes. It was the latest salvo in a contentious battle between atheists and churches, which resulted in the city ending a six-decade-long tradition of allowing nativity scenes at Palisades Park.
