Don't freak out, but a new SARS-like virus has been found
9/24/2012OK, we don't want to alarm you but … all right, we're just going to go ahead and alarm you. A new virus has been identified in Britain that bears an unsettling resemblance to the deadly SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) virus, which struck 30 countries and killed about 800 people in 2003. Although this new virus is not the same (that virus is still in existence but contained now), it too is a coronavirus and appears to cause similar respiratory issues. A man in Saudi Arabia has died and another, discovered in Qatar, is being treated in London. Officials do not believe so far it will prove as serious, and no travel restrictions have been advised to the Middle East. Still, we probably won't be planning any trips to Doha about now. [Source]
