Science promo fail makes girl scientists look dumb and sexy

Someone at the European Commission had brain freeze when they posted this sexist video, "Science: It's a Girl Thing!" that has since gone viral for all the wrong reasons. Instead of promoting female brainiacs with science careers, its depictions of slinky models, nail polish and lipstick have attracted a barrage of criticism. ‏@Lisa_MarieMayne tweets, "As a woman of science and working in a lab where women outnumber men, I find this garish, insulting and incredibly demeaning!" Other fast-thinking science types got snarky: "Reminded that no time to write for Nature today. Off to do nails + strut in 4'' heels," tweets Nature writer Helen Pearson, while @bengoldacre tweets, "The EU have funded a campaign to make women in science wear shorter skirts."
