Check out this awe-inspiring 3D tour of the universe
8/10/2012You know the universe is a big, magical, mindboggling-ly huge place of wonder. But this 3D animated tour, which includes some 400,000 galaxies, drives the point home with exceptional elegance. Made by folks at both John Hopkins University and the Adler Planetarium, the video represents what is possibly the largest ever map of the universe – and is swiftly going viral. To offer some perspective on its enormous scale, one YouTube commenter pointed out that if the "camera" is traveling the distance of a milky-way sized galaxy in 1 millisecond, it would be traveling at 1,262,304,000,000,000 times the speed of light.
