Scientists say men really do prefer the lady in red
2/27/2012Ladies, there's an annoying truth behind this age-old cliché: As The Telegraph puts it, "It seems men really do prefer the lady in red." In a new study conducted by scientists at the University of Rochester, men were shown photos of the same woman in a red shirt, a white shirt and a green shirt -- and they reportedly found the red-shirted women most desirable and the most likely to return their sexual advances. The study's leader suggested that this phenomenon is an evolutionary one and related to the way female baboons show "patches of bright red skin to indicate they are ready to mate." Scientists also had a bit of fashion advice for women: "From a pragmatic standpoint, our results suggest that women may need to be judicious in their use of red clothing," one told the newspaper.
