Hope you like bugs and seaweed, because that may be dinner in 2032

Practice with us: “I’ll have my ground-cricket burger well done with a side of algae, please.” Get used to this type of new world order, because bugs and seaweed may become a dietary staple in about 20 years’ time. Researchers say that rising prices may soon render meat a luxury, so we’ll need to fill the gap with protein-rich insects and seaweed, one of the fastest-growing (and most abundant) organisms around.

So how do we get around squeamish Westerners who can’t stomach eating a perfectly-seasoned grasshopper or locust, already staples in many countries around the world? Scientists think they’ve found an etymological way around this entomological problem: Rebrand “insects” as “mini-livestock.” Nope, still not hungry. [Source]
