Ex-wife of pro-life rep reportedly had two abortions during marriage
11/16/2012Rep. Scott DesJarlais is one classy guy. The ardently pro-life Tennessee congressman, a former doctor, caused an uproar in October when it was reported that in 2000 he allegedly pressured his mistress to get an abortion. DesJarlais, who was re-elected earlier this month, suffered another stain to his reputation when the Tennessee Democratic Party released a transcript of his 2001 divorce proceedings in which it was revealed his ex-wife had two abortions during their marriage, one reportedly because of a medication that carried risks, the other because of problems in the couple’s relationship. According to the documents, DesJarlais also allegedly had affairs with women who worked with him, as well as other patients who also said he prescribed them drugs. [Source]
