Embracing failure, man tries to pay off national debt
12/26/2012We're not convinced this story is going to have a happy ending. All-around good citizen Scott Soucy, a veteran of both the Army and the Navy, has begun a one-man effort to pay off the national debt, writing checks for as little as $32 against a total bill for the country of roughly $16 trillion. (To pay the entire debt off, each American would need to pony up $52,000). Soucy is trying to get others to do the same and already he isn't alone: Individual Americans have donated $7 million to the U.S. Treasury this year to pay down the debt. "Somebody has to do something," Soucy says. [Source]
