Surfer uses his fists to fend off shark attack

11/2/2012

A Californian surfer came up with a novel way of escaping from the jaws of a hungry shark – punching it in the head. Scott Stephens was paddling on his stomach when he was pulled under water by a great white off the coast of Eureka, Calif., on Tuesday. Despite suffering several deep cuts to his body, Stephens managed to free himself by unleashing several blows to the shark’s head, then made his way back to shore where he aided by strangers. Despite his ordeal, Stephens says he bears no animosity towards his attacker. "You're entering into their home every time you go surfing," he said. "I have a lot of respect for him." [Source]
