What's a band without its founder, frontman and public face? Well, either not a band anymore, or one that's about to become irrelevant. Just one day after he told Rolling Stone he had not been fired from Stone Temple Pilots, Scott Weiland was fired Wednesday from Stone Temple Pilots. The band released a one-sentence statement announcing the firing, which comes after months of rumors that STP had broken up or that Weiland had been dumped. The band had reunited in 2008 after a five-year hiatus, and embarked on a lengthy tour in 2012. Weiland, who is launching a solo tour next month, shot back in a statement about his "supposed ‘termination" that the matter is "something for the lawyers to figure out." [Source]
