A new Scottish bill contains a loophole that would let such groups as Jedis and the Flat Earth Society perform marriage ceremonies. The Scottish government says the Marriage and Civil Partnership Bill is being altered to allow groups like humanists to perform ceremonies. However, the Free Church of Scotland say the bill's language is vague and will allow virtually any group promoting "a belief" (without defining what "belief" means) to perform marriages. A spokesperson for the Scottish government says tests will be implemented before a group would be allowed to perform marriage ceremonies, but we're really just too excited about the prospect of legal Jedi marriages to care about that.
