That's a lot of fish: Singapore boasts world's largest aquarium

12/4/2012

There are big aquariums, and then there's the new S.E.A. Aquarium on the island resort of Sentosa in Singapore. The aquarium claims to be the world's largest: With more than 100,000 marine animals (and more than 800 species!) swimming or floating around in nearly 12 million gallons of water, the facility apparently outsprawls Atlanta's 10-million-gallon Georgia Aquarium, which opened in 2005 and also boasts it's the biggest. The Singapore aquarium features 10 different zones with 49 habitats, as well as an "Open Ocean" habitat that can be seen through an enormous viewing panel (also billed as the world's largest). Sounds like a good destination for fish fans — and people who like superlatives. [Source]
