Sea Shepherd claims partial victory in clash with Japanese whalers

2/16/2013

Sea Shepherd is faring better at sea than in the courts. The anti-whaling fleet is claiming at least a draw in a showdown in Australian waters with Japanese whalers after the SSS Bob Barker intervened with a harpoon vessel trying to load a minke whale onto the Nisshin Maru. The whalers got their kill aboard, but Capt. Peter Hammarstedt said the hunters have since backed off. The same can't be said of Sea Shepherd, which fights on despite the U.S. Supreme Court refusing to quash an injunction meant to keep the protesters away. "What they don't seem to realize is that Sea Shepherd is an international organization," said founder Paul Watson. [Source]
