Sea slug's regenerating penis might boost its Valentine's Day luck

Someone's getting lucky when Cupid comes around Thursday. Chromodoris reticulata, a sea slug found in the Pacific Ocean, is the kind of critter that makes you question nature's sanity. For starters, it's thought to be a "simultaneous hermaphrodite" — which means it has both male and female private parts that can be used at the same time (nice). But that seems totally humdrum compared to what Japanese researchers observed. They found the slug sheds its penis after sex, but regrows another penis within 24 hours.
