$450 million mistake: Sean Connery turned down the role of Gandalf

Sean Connery knows, because that's exactly what he lost by turning down the role of Gandalf in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, according to a Hollywood blog. He would have earned $450 million by saying "You shall not pass." But he passed. [Source]
