Conservative radio host Sean Hannity called the Obamacare hotline on Monday and talked to Erling Davis, mother of two. The operator was talkative, informative and spent about 10 minutes talking to Hannity, which were aired. Then she was fired for talking to the media. Hannity said he felt guilty, so he talked to his accountant and found that he could legally gift Davis $25,000 — her yearly salary. So that's what he's doing, which is actually pretty nice, even though he offered it with the fairly tin-eared advice that Davis should "check with [her] financial guy" about whether the money would remain tax-free. Hannity's old radio contract paid him roughly $20 million per year, so we suppose we'll excuse him for assuming a mother of two making $25K a year has a "financial guy." [Source]
