The secret about secret menu items at fast-food restaurants is that they aren’t really secret. After all, you can’t sell something no one knows about. Still, there is a certain appeal in ordering off-menu items. Mostly, it makes you seem like the cool kid in the joint by giving you the appearance of being an insider (like those people at Chinese restaurants who most assuredly didn’t order the lunch special) — though it’s probably going to be gut-bustingly off the charts in everything that is bad for you. Doctors definitely are not fans of the obesity bombs lurking in secret (and which restaurants don’t have to give nutritional info for). Wink, wink.
