Senator asks MTV to kill new hillbilly reality show 'Buckwild'

12/9/2012

At least one person is unhappy about the debut of "Buckwild," MTV's questionable new foray into reality trash-TV. West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin has asked MTV to kill the upcoming hillbilly-centered show, which, starting on Jan. 3,  is slated to replace "Jersey Shore" in both timeslot and repulsion factor. Manchin even sent a letter to MTV President Stephen Friedman about the "ugly, inaccurate stereotypes" the show will promote about West Virginia. Manchin also wrote, "Instead of showcasing the beauty of our people and our state, you preyed on young people, coaxed them into displaying shameful behavior, and now you are profiting from it." No word yet on MTV's reaction, but somehow we suspect the show will go on. [Source]
