Senior citizen wants to go over Niagara for old times' sake
3/30/2012Nik Wallenda was able to secure permission to tight-rope walk across the Niagara Falls this summer after officials limited falls-related stunts to once every 20 years. Now, 65-year-old Peter DeBernardi, who survived the first two-man-barrel plunge over the Falls with his partner in 1989, wants to revamp the prohibition so he can take the plunge again himself next year. DeBernardi says if he has to, he'll wait until he's 85 to plummet over the edge in his "Spirit of Niagara II," commenting it will "give me something to live for." @NiagaraFallsLibrary, which has likely seen its share of barrel antics over the years, simply wants to know: "Why?"
Is going over Niagara Falls brave or crazy?
