3/26/2012Fury and outrage have exploded on the Internet in response to a Vogue magazine article about a woman obsessively counting calories for her 7-year-old daughter. People called Dara-Lynn Weiss' forced-dieting story "heartbreaking," pointing to shameful mothering tactics and accusing her of humiliating her daughter. In the Vogue story, Weiss talks about depriving her daughter of dinner after learning she ate Brie cheese at school, dumping her hot cocoa in the trash at Starbucks and disagreeing when the girl said she's no different just because she's lost weight. "I protest that indeed she is different," Weiss writes. "At this moment, that fat girl is a thing of the past."
