You'll be amazed by these stunningly detailed carved animals

If you want a lesson in patience and precision, look no further than these magnificent wildlife sculptures made by artist Sergei Bobkov. The Russian wood-chip sculptor spends approximately six months on each masterpiece, meticulously working 10 to 12 hours a day – taking no days off – and staying fastidiously faithful to the wildlife's anatomy. First, he shaves 100-150 chips from a solid stick of cedar. Then, Bobkov soaks the fragments in water for several days before beginning to carve. The result is an exquisite collection of art so detailed and precious, we feel like we've wandered into a zoo in some alternate universe where everything is made from wood.
