Heartbreaking 'Sesame Street' clip teaching kids about loss goes viral12/17/2012
In the wake of the horrific tragedy in Newtown, Conn., an episode of "Sesame Street" that deals with loss and grief has gone viral. After the show's Mr. Hooper character dies, Big Bird is at a loss for understanding where his friend has gone. "But he's got to come back," he cries. "Who's going to take care of the store? And who's going to make my birdseed milkshakes?!" Even as a puppet, Big Bird reminds us how unrestrained childrens' sorrow can be in the face of death, and the heartbreaking questions he asks are poignant examples of how difficult it can be to find the right words.
