Disappointing study says that sex doesn't really burn 300 calories

1/31/2013

It's almost Valentine's Day, but don't expect that a session of seasonally appropriate sex will help you burn off all those candy hearts. Those claims that sex burns between 100 and 300 calories aren't true, according to research published in Thursday's issue of the New England Journal of Medicine. The authors say that the only study that ever measured the energy output of sex found that the average six-minute session between the sheets only torched 21 calories. And there's a pickup line for you: "Hey, wanna help me measure my energy output?" So if you really want to get a bedroom workout, you'd better be chasing each other around the room. [Source]
