NYU student not into sharing dorm room with roommate's 4-year-old

1/18/2013

The story of a single mother juggling her family and her courses at prestigious New York University is inspiring, unless you happen to be her roommate. Shasten Snellgroves pays $2,000 a month for NYU housing, but she has been told that she essentially has to live with her roommate's 4-year-old. The kid is allowed over anytime during the day and up to six nights per month. "I am sympathetic to her struggle," Snellgroves wrote. "But [it isn't] just for me to be facing consequences related to her life decisions." According to Snellgroves, NYU administrators compared the situation to homophobia — that it was as if she was "uncomfortable with another having a homosexual partner stay the night." [Source]
