Devastated Sandy victims shocked to see home in Allstate commercial

1/4/2013

Maybe there's a reason Allstate Insurance doesn't describe itself as "good neighbors." Sheila and Dominic Traina say Allstate offered only $10,000 after Superstorm Sandy destroyed their Staten Island home, a house so ravaged that the company included it in one of its commercials. When the Trainas saw their police-tape-wrapped chair and crumpled green house in the ad from their new digs (a relative's basement), they were "disgusted." They'd lived in their home for 43 years — the same amount of time they've been paying Allstate premiums. "When something happens, they don’t want to know you,” Dominic Traina said. "It's an insult, especially after we were … in their commercial." An Allstate rep says both the compensation and the commercial were fair. [Source]
