Police swamped by 911 calls from shoppers stuck in sales traffic
12/28/2012Police in Burnaby, Canada, received so many calls from stranded, sales-crazed shoppers on Dec. 26, their Boxing Day holiday, that they tweeted: "Shoppers stuck in heavy Boxing Day sales parking lot traffic, pls don't tie up 9-1-1 emergency lines to report it's taking too long." Sgt. Robert Marks said, "Maybe they wanted help with exiting the parking lots, which technically is not our forte." The calls still had nothing on southwestern Ontario police's third most stupid 911 call for the year, according to the department's top 12 list, from a woman who wanted police to "persuade her drug dealer to stop adding hallucinogens to her crack supply."
