Shove off, Santorini: Filipino hot spot is world's best island
7/9/2012Sorry, rich expat bankers, your perfect holiday destination secret is out: Boracay in the Philippines has just been voted the world's best island. In classic "my island can beat up your island" style, Boracay shoved the Greek isle of Santorini out of Travel & Leisure's number-one spot, thanks to its talcum powder-soft sandy beaches and abundance of friendly butlers, fab spas and gorgeous dive centers.
Even the world's best island has a few skeletons in its closet, including flooding, shabby roads and the grisly murders of a millionaire art dealer and his buddies in 2004. Still, this tropical paradise has our vote. We're packing up our itty-bitty bikinis as we speak.
What's the most fabulous island vacation you've taken?
