Somehow, the music industry believed these Scots were Californians
3/11/2013Just look what binge-watching MTV can result in. Billy Boyd and Gavin Bain, aka Silibil 'N' Brains, were a hip-hop duo from Dundee, Scotland, who had no luck breaking into the music industry in London. So they reinvented themselves as two rappers from California. Their new American persona earned them a six-figure recording contract with Sony and saw them partying with the likes of Madonna. The constant lies took a toll, though, and a new documentary premiering this week, titled "The Great Hip Hoax," tells the story of their downfall. Happily, Boyd and Bain are finally releasing their first album this year — hopefully without any lame-o fake accents. [Source]
