'Simpsons' writers take silver-anniversary swipe at Fox News
4/23/2012Never ones to stand on ceremony, the "Simpsons" creative team took a swipe at corporate relative Fox News Sunday night following the rebroadcast of the show's first episode in honor of Fox Television Network's 25th anniversary. After the credits rolled, a retro-looking title card appeared on-screen that read "Congratulations FOX on 25 years...We still love you*" and then "*This doesn't include Fox News." It's not the first time the writers have poked Fox News in the eye. In previous seasons, helicopters have appeared in the cartoon emblazoned with the messages "Fox News: Not Racist, But #1 With Racists" and "Fox News: Unsuitable for Viewers Under 75." D'oh!
Was 'The Simpsons' anniversary swipe in poor taste?
