Utah student brings handgun to school for 'protection'
12/18/2012On Monday, a sixth-grade boy in Utah brought a handgun to his elementary school, claiming his parents gave him the weapon as protection following the deadly rampage in Newtown, Conn., last week. One of the boy's classmates said the boy pointed the unloaded gun at her head during recess and said he was going to kill her. A teacher was quickly able to get the gun away from the boy and bring him to the school office. Police arrived on the scene, but the school was not put on lockdown, according to officials, because the gun was confiscated quickly and a lockdown would have scared students. Still, some parents were upset to hear about the incident from their children rather than from the school. [Source]
