Skunk's broken-field run scatters high school football team
8/26/2012Cutesy animals dashing onto the field of play are a beloved sports tradition. Hey, the Saint Louis Cardinals even immortalized the Rally Squirrel on their World Series rings. This little invader is not so beloved. A lost skunk interrupted a Mississippi high school football game between Baldwyn and visiting Booneville, scooting the length of the field and dispersing players, coaches and cheerleaders before taking cover under the bleachers on the home team's sideline. Given the lack of panic among the fans, the critter must not have resorted to its trademark defense. Baldwyn lost a thriller, 28-27, but at least the Bearcats didn't get skunked.
