Japanese women are paying good money to have their teeth messed up

In America, we're all about straight teeth (just look at our orthodontia bills), but in Japan sexy is all about the snaggletooth. Dental clinics in Tokyo's snazziest districts now offer women "yaeba" (or "double teeth"), capping their canines, temporarily or permanently, to make them look more fanglike — or, as the Japanese apparently see it, more childlike and attractive. "Yaeba give girls an impish cuteness," the director of one clinic, who has helped some patients launch a snaggletooth girl group, told Japan Today. "It’s a sense of beauty unique to the Japanese, but 'yaeba' can be an attractive feature on women in their teens and 20s." The clinic offers discounts to middle and high school students. ID required.
