Awesome photos from 50 years of solar system exploration

10/30/2012

If you're lamenting the recent, demoralizing ramping down of NASA's mission budget by re-watching all seven seasons of "Star Trek: The Next Generation," plug your wide screen into your computer and soak in these photos compiled by NASA to mark  50 years of exploration of our solar system. The photos range from Mariner 2's 1962 flyby of Venus, the first successful planetary mission, to the New Horizons mission, currently en route to Pluto. Mars and Venus sure are pretty, but look at cute, little Mercury!
