Court: Businesses must cover morning-after pill, like it or not
12/27/2012Women who support access to emergency contraception might want to think twice about working for Hobby Lobby stores. The firm, along with its sister company Mardel Inc., sued to block a part of Obamacare that would require the stores to provide insurance coverage for the morning-after pill and similar contraception. The lawsuit stated contraception violates the owners' religious beliefs. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor ruled Wednesday that Hobby Lobby isn't a religious organization, so must comply with the federal law. The stores now face the choice of compliance or a daily $1.3 million fine. [Source]
