There is NO horse meat in South African beef — just donkey and buffalo
2/26/2013While Europe worries about Ikea's horse meatballs, South African food scientists say they've found water buffalo, donkey and goat in beef products. Researchers at South Africa's Stellenbosch University reportedly tested 139 samples and found a variety of animal species not listed on the label in 99 of them. The worst offending fare? Sausages, burgers and deli meats. The good news: None of the samples they tested contained horse. Can't wait to see what other four-legged creatures turn up in our dinner next. [Source]
