A few 'fake' nuclear reactor parts probably won't hurt anybody
11/5/2012Counterfeit Louis Vuitton handbags and Tiffany love knots have nothing on the fake — or at least "unverified" — parts installed in two South Korean nuclear plants. With the Fukushima nuclear disaster still casting a radioactive glow from the not-too-distant past, Korean officials have ordered the immediate shutdown of the plants until they swap out 7,682 fuses, power switches and other assorted parts for the real McCoys. The questionable parts, worth some $750,000, came with forged quality certificates. So while folks on America's Eastern Seaboard are slowly getting their power restored after Hurricane Sandy, South Koreans are heading for a chilly winter with not enough power to go around. [Source]
