Southwest Airlines owes its lucky flyers 5.8 million boozy drinks
12/15/2012Southwest Airlines is stuck with one massive bar tab after losing a recent class-action lawsuit that could cost the airline nearly 6 million alcoholic beverages. That’s thanks to a suit filed by Chicago attorney Adam Levitt, who sued the carrier after it stopped honoring free drink vouchers it gave to members of its Business Select program, which had no expiration dates prior to Aug. 1, 2010, when the company essentially voided all outstanding vouchers. Levitt said the change was breach of contract, and today the company settled, agreeing to honoring all vouchers eligible prior to the 2010 policy change, an estimated 5.8 million vouchers valued at $29 million.
