Southwest plane does some unscheduled pre-flight mud bogging

12/28/2012

The Southwest Airlines slogan might be "you are now free to move about the country," but Flight 4695 wasn't moving anywhere after sinking into the mud beside a Long Island runway Thursday. The flight was taxiing toward its takeoff when it skidded on the rain-slicked pavement and slid into mud so deep that the plane's engines were almost touching the muck. “We just made your day very exciting — at least, ours is going to be," the pilot told the air traffic controllers. None of the passengers were hurt, and everyone was transferred to an un-stuck Southwest plane that eventually took off five hours late for Tampa. [Source]
