Kids' mag better at picking World Series than ESPN, Sports Illustrated10/26/2012
At the beginning of the 2012 baseball season, the sportswriters at ESPN and Sports Illustrated scratched their heads, stared at their computer screens and maybe shook a Magic 8 Ball in an attempt to predict which teams would play in the World Series. Of those 58 writers, not a single one picked Detroit and San Francisco to meet in the Fall Classic (although eight selected the Tigers and six picked the Giants). The publication that got it right? Sports Illustrated for Kids. "The Tigers have the huge bats … to win it all," Gary Gramling wrote in April. "Congratulations Tigers, you are 100% guaranteed to win the World Series." Gary if you're right, there are some lottery numbers we'd like to talk to you about. [Source]
