London pulls plug on 'epic' Springsteen & McCartney jam

7/15/2012

Possibly one of the most historic jam sessions in music was cut short Saturday night when Bruce Springsteen and Sir Paul McCartney were abruptly silenced for exceeding a London curfew. Springsteen is as notorious for his marathon concerts as England is for its love of rules, so in retrospect a standoff seemed inevitable. An incensed Steven Van Zandt, longtime guitarist in Springsteen's E-Street Band, launched a Twitter tirade, accusing England of becoming a "police state". The performance, part of the Hard Rock Calling music festival, had already exceeded the curfew by 30 minutes. The sound cut happens at 10:15 in the video. [Source]
