Stability ball seats: now coming soon to a classroom near you
2/21/2013Now that we know sitting for long hours kills us, stability balls are here to save us from ourselves — even our littlest selves. Improved health is one benefit for students of fifth-grade teacher Robbi Giuliano, from West Chester, Pa., who replaced standard chairs with yoga balls. Another is better focus — and Giuliano says the swap has been a total success, as it gives students an outlet for fidgeting they might otherwise be punished for. The balls are also in use at a nearby fourth-grade class, where teacher Dannielle Doran says students will behave just so they don't lose the privilege of sitting on them: "It seems to almost ... motivate better behavior."
